It is said that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. And as far as I can tell, it is entirely true. When it comes to naming the most beautiful country in the world, there are plenty of aspects to consider. There’s the people, the culture, the architecture, the scenery, the food, the music, the night life, the shopping, etc. Because there are so many things that can be used to measure the beauty of a place, the answer to the most beautiful country in the world is going to be different with each person you ask. So let’s try breaking it down into categories. There’s still going to be quite the array of answers.

Natural Beauty

Of course, every country has awesome views somewhere. But some places have become iconic and are synonymous with breathtaking, awe inspiring beauty. Even those who aren’t nature lovers have to admit the beauty. Places like South Africa, the United States of America and Thailand have some of the most beautiful landscapes on the globe. Pristine beaches, glorious mountains, wondrous wildflowers, captivating wildlife and mighty landforms. Brazil is the home of the majority of the Amazon Rainforest in all of its beauteous glory.

Architecture

There’s the Great Wall of China, the Giza Pyramids, the Eiffel Tower, the Taj Mahal and Angkor Wat. Human beings have left their stamp of beauty all over the planet. We have used our creativity to connect to nature, to each other and to a higher power. Many of these man made wonders are nothing short of majestic engineering feats. They adorn our spaces and attract people from all over the world. Just being in the same physical space as these architectural wonders can change our entire perception of the beauty of a country. These landmarks, in many ways, have come to define a culture and a country.

People

Beyond a shadow of a doubt, the people are a major part of what makes any country beautiful. The smiling faces, the chubby babies and wise elders bring so much character to a place. Not to mention that the people are the keepers of a country’s culture. Azerbaijan is touted for its hospitality and seamless mix of Eastern, Western and Russian. Thailand has been dubbed, “the land of smiles,” and it’s very welcoming. New Zealanders are known for their generosity and joyous approach to life. And Fijians are rich in life, generosity and joy.

And with all of the categories combined, the top spot for the most beautiful country in the world goes to Italy, time and time again. Italy is lauded for its rolling vineyards, ancient Roman ruins, towing mountainsides and beautiful beaches. Its cuisine is known all over the world and has even fused with that of other cultures. Rome, Florence and Venice are some of the more popular cities rich with amazing architecture, friendly people and exciting adventures. Undoubtedly, there are countless beautiful countries all over this earth, so don’t let this list or any other list keep you from uncovering some hidden gems and sharing them with the rest of us.
